Cataract Surgical procedure for opening tear ducts – nose:
For DCR surgery, the ophthalmologist makes a new hole from the tear duct to the nasal cavity. During the surgery, the surgeon makes a small incision in your skin near the nose and under the eye. The doctor makes a small hole in the nose. It is actually a new route from the tear duct to the nasal cavity.
DCR is an operation performed to treat ocular obstruction associated with a tear sac infection.
Irrigation with pus from the eye and in acute and severe cases causes severe redness and pain and swelling in the lacrimal sac.
DCR is not performed when the lacrimal sac has an acute infection and is performed after the infection has resolved with the use of antibiotics prescribed by a physician.
Surgery to open the lacrimal duct obstruction is usually performed in infants aged 6 to 9 months, and the treatment is breastfeeding after 6 to 9 months.

If the operation is performed through the nasal passage, it is necessary to use nasal phenylephrine drops in a few days after the operation as follows:
The patient tilts his head completely back and drops 4 drops in each nostril.
Intense activities such as running, mountaineering and weightlifting should not be done for a month. It is also forbidden to go to the pool and swim for up to 2 months.
Mild to moderate headaches after endoscopic surgery are usually normal, but if severe and accompanied by fever and loss of consciousness, a physician should be consulted.
Normal postoperative drainage can be normal, but if there is clear and transparent drainage, especially in cases of increased pressure and severe checking, you should definitely inform your doctor.
