Diabetes in pregnancy

It affects less than 5% of women. The disease is diagnosed based on the results of blood sugar tests in two consecutive samples before meals and two hours after meals.
Women with gestational diabetes are more likely to develop overt diabetes for the rest of their lives.
There are two types of diabetes:

Insulin-dependent diabetes

Non-insulin dependent diabet

The effect of pregnancy on diabetes:
Disrupts carbohydrate metabolism.
 The blood becomes acidic.
Eye diseases are on the rise.
It lowers blood sugar due to placental hormones and insulin resistance.
The effect of diabetes on pregnancy:
• The risk of pregnancy poisoning increases 4 times. Infection becomes more common and severe.
The size of the fetus increases. The fluid around the fetus becomes too much.
Babies of diabetic mothers will have more problems.

Care and treatment:
• Timely injection of insulin
Proper diet
• Control blood sugar and bring it back to normal
• Complete care during pregnancy, especially in terms of kidney function, heart and eye condition
• Regular fetal control of heart sounds and movements, especially in mothers with insulin-dependent diabetes.
Avoid repeated vaginal examinations because of the possibility of trauma and injury to the birth canal.
