Care after knee joint replacement


It will take about a year for your body to fully adapt to the new knee. You will have severe pain and tingling around the knee for several weeks, which you can use painkillers to reduce the pain. During the day, put an ice pack on the knee 3 times (for 10 minutes each time), during the first month after the operation, put a pillow under the heel and gently press the knee 10 times three times a day to Avoid bending the knee. Sleep in a regular schedule and at a certain time every night so that you sleep more easily. You can go on a trip two weeks after the operation.
6 to 8 weeks after the operation, you can start driving slowly and carefully. Be sure to take antibiotics before performing surgeries and wounds, especially dental procedures, with the doctor’s advice. Infection is the most dangerous enemy of your knee, so be careful of infection in all parts of your body and take any part of the body that has an infection (cold, urinary tract infection, etc.) seriously and go to the doctor for treatment at least twice a year.   • In the first week, you will see light discharge of watery blood around the wound, so don’t worry and change the dressing daily.
  • Keep the bandage on the wound for about three weeks so that the swelling of your leg does not increase.
  • In the first few months after the operation, your body will have swelling, especially around the operated knee, which is normal and do not worry, and it will disappear with increasing activity and the passage of time.
  • In the first few weeks after the operation, you have a state of anorexia, so try to drink more liquids and eat more fruits and foods with iron.
  • From the day after the operation, start walking with a walker and slowly bend and straighten your knee. You should do your daily activities for a month, walk at least a certain amount every hour and rest during the activity.
  • You can sleep on any side you want, but you may have a little insomnia so try not to sleep during the day so that you can sleep more easily at night.
